Supported Accommodation
About Supported Accommodations
Supported Accommodation is widely believed to work especially well for those who face complex challenges and is ideal for individuals confronted with serious and persistent issues. These issues may include substance misuse, addiction or alcoholism, mental illness, offending behaviour or other serious challenges in addition to also having low incomes, and receiving state benefits which may also create barriers to accessing and maintaining suitable accommodation which often causes homelessness or sofa surfing.
Placements are offered subject to referral and full assessment of the client’s needs. Clients are fully involved and will be invited to view suitable placements prior to making a choice.
Supported Accommodation can be a very useful service to help service users gain confidence and skills such as budgeting, managing debt basic household skills e.g cleaning and cooking, support managing appointments, setting up benefit claims, maintaining tenancy etc… We also make referrals and support service users access to other specialised professional service providers for support with alcohol and drug abuse, physical or mental health, education, training and voluntary work.
All referrals will be fully assessed, with input from the client and other services to ensure that the Supported Accommodation placement is a pragmatic and cost-effective solution for the service user which achieves the intended outcomes as documented in the needs assessment.
